International economic organizations - a positive or negative phenomenon of the modern world?

News and Society

The twentieth century was marked not only by the activescientific and technical progress. World interaction and total redistribution of the world have caused the emergence and development of such a phenomenon as international economic organizations, the significance of which is ambiguously perceived by both philistines and experts.

The essence of the phenomenon

International economic organizationsthe essence today is the most powerful way to influence countries. And it is not so much and not only about the so-called "developing", but also about the developed ones. To understand how such an effect is carried out, one must grasp their essence.

So, the first thing to be said aboutof these organizations is that they are full participants in international relations. This situation is ensured by the fact that in their formation, the states that have agreed to participate transfer part of the immunity of the newly created organization to the economic sphere. And, consequently, the international financial and economic organizations have the right to exist as independent subjects of promotion of their interests within the framework of the goals set by the constituent document (convention, declaration or charter).

However, on the other hand, a certain delinquency is imposed on such organizations, which means that they are obliged to bear responsibility for their actions, regardless of the amount of damage.

As a rule, the whole range of powers andduties is fixed by the primary operators of international law - states - in special acts on the establishment of the organization. Also there are indicated those conditions that may entail the disbanding of such organizations.

Types and assessment of significance

Experts emphasize that international financial and economic organizations today differ mainly in the sphere of influence. So, there are universal and specialized ones.

The pearl of the first category of such organizations is considered World Trade organisation, it's the same WTO. To date, it is the only one by rightconsidered the most influential in the economic sphere. In fact, it is the WTO that dictates the rules of "playing" in the field of intellectual property, services and trade, more than once proving its strength.

The second universal organization is the UN ECOSOC (it's the same UN Economic and Social Council). Its main task is to advise countries on economic issues. It should be noted that, unlike the WTO, it includes all major economic systems, since consultation is carried out, proceeding from the analysis of development data of specific countries.

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (it's the same OECD), as well as the previous one, is purely consultative, andalso a scientific nature. The basis of its activities is to provide information on how to build a market economy. And, consequently, it does not consider all states and all major economic systems in its sphere of activity.

In addition to the main ones presented, there are also specialized ones designed to solve narrow issues, such as WIPO and OPEC. Despite the narrowness of the subject of the activity, these international economic organizations actively influence the formation of pricing policy throughout the world, which in particular concerns OPEC.

Specialists separately identify international financial organizations, the main of which are the IMF and the IB.

The International Bank (IB) - a special financial organization that monitors andregulating the movement of finance and the impact of those on the standard of living of the population. It consists of five main structures, whose main activities are credit provision and monitoring of the investment situation in the member countries.

IMF - specialized structure, basic principlewhose activities are "providing loans in return for carrying out reforms." It is worth noting that the IMF has the greatest financial impact, especially for developing countries.

As can be seen, international economicorganizations today are indeed a powerful tool for influencing the development of the economic sphere. In particular, this provision concerns the WTO and the IMF, whose role has long evolved from consulting to a tool for ensuring the desired development.
