History

The Tyumen Drama Theater was opened in 1858year. Its creation was a great event for the city. The initiator of the opening of the theater was the merchant Kondraty Sheshukov. The performances were amateur, since the professional troupe in Tyumen at that time was not. The money earned from the performances was used for the material support of the women's gymnasium. In 1890 the merchant Andrey Teuttiev became the troupe's tutor.
