What to do if the cigarette lighter does not work
The cigarette lighter is a simple and necessary thing, which is in every car. Perhaps, this is the only detail of the car, which is not subject to any scientific and technical progress, nor the passage of time. This is the most compulsory and conservative part of the car. With the cigarette lighter, you can not only light a cigarette, but also connect a lot of electrical appliances (charging a mobile phone, a DVR, a compressor, etc.).
What should I do if the cigarette lighter does not work?
1. Often the cigarette lighter does not work because of a blown fuse. Because of what is this happening? The main cause of the fault is additional devices that are connected by the driver to the cigarette lighter socket. The owner of the car should remember that it is not recommended to connect such devices as heaters, auto refrigerators, vacuum cleaners, usb cigarette lighter, coffee makers, compressors, etc. to this device.
These devices are best connected directly to thecar battery. It should be noted that the wires are connected in a strictly defined sequence. For example, the black wire from the additional device must be connected to the negative terminal, and the black wire with a red mark to the positive one. To determine exactly where and how to connect the wires, you need to disassemble the plug of the cigarette lighter. The plus (+) terminal is the central contact, the negative terminal is the side leads (on both sides). Accordingly, the black "crocodile" is connected to the negative terminal, and the red one to the positive one. After these actions, you will not be mistaken in connecting an additional device to the battery. This is a simple way to solve a problem that will take about fifteen minutes of your time.
2. Sometimes the cigarette lighter does not work because the driver has put a too powerful fuse. In such a situation, sooner or later the nest will burn, it will have to be changed. It is also better not to insert into it poor quality plugs that hang loose, loosely assembled or badly sit in the socket outlet. This can cause a short circuit and even a fire.
3. Do you know where the cigarette lighter fuse is? It can be under the torpedo, in the fuse block, in the driver's leg niche, in the trunk, under the hood or the seats. It depends on the brand of the car. It is indicated by the inscription "sigar" or the symbol of a cigarette. If the cigarette lighter does not work, then, first of all, it is necessary to check the fuse.
